Booking & Reservations
Do I need to be a certain age to book?
Yes. All bookings require the primary guest to be 27 years or older, and a separate rental contract must be signed in addition to your online reservation.
How much do I need to pay to reserve, and when is the balance due?
A 50% deposit is due at the time of booking, with the remaining balance due 90 days before arrival. A refundable security deposit (held as a pre-authorization, not an actual charge) is also placed on your card shortly before arrival and released about 5 days after checkout, assuming no damage.
What is your cancellation policy?
All prepayments are non-refundable. If your dates are rebooked by another guest, we may issue a credit — but this isn't guaranteed. We recommend travel insurance if your plans could change.
Is there a minimum stay requirement?
Yes, most properties require a 2-night minimum on weekends, holidays, and during summer months (June–August). Some single-night weekday openings may be available — check the specific property's calendar.
Can I book just for the day instead of overnight?
Day rate bookings are available on select properties (currently The Castle) for 2–6 hours on weekdays, for guests who want to experience the escape rooms without an overnight stay. Contact us to check pricing and availability.
The Escape Rooms & Activities
Do we need any special skills or experience to solve the escape rooms?
Not at all — every room is designed to be beginner-friendly with clues and hints built in. They're meant to be fun for families and first-timers alike.
What happens if we can't solve the puzzle in time?
Nothing to worry about — there's no penalty. If your group doesn't finish, you're welcome to keep exploring the space and story afterward.
Is this an official Harry Potter experience?
No. Wizard's Escape is an independently owned and operated vacation rental with a wizard-and-magic theme inspired by beloved fantasy stories. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros., or any related trademark holders.
Are the escape rooms suitable for young children?
Most of our escape experiences and scavenger hunts are family-friendly and enjoyed by a wide age range, though some puzzles are better suited to guests age 8+. Reach out and we're happy to advise based on your group's ages.
Is staff present during the escape room, or is it self-guided?
Our escape experiences are self-run using in-room instructions and props, so your group can play at your own pace, any time during your stay.
Staying With Us
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM. Limited flexibility may be available — just ask when booking.
Are pets allowed?
No, pets are not permitted at any of our properties.
Is smoking allowed?
No, smoking is prohibited inside and on the grounds of all properties.
Is parking available?
Yes, free on-site parking is available for guests at all three properties.
Do the properties have Wi-Fi?
Yes, all properties include wireless internet access throughout.
Is there a pool?
The Castle property has a seasonal outdoor pool (available May–September) for an additional fee. Our other properties do not include pool access.
What's included in the cleaning fee, and do we need to clean before we leave?
The cleaning fee covers our professional cleaning team after your stay. We ask that guests leave the property reasonably tidy (dishes done, trash bagged), but a deep clean isn't required from you.

We're located at 2772 Washington St, Adamstown, MD 21710 — convenient to the Frederick and DC/Baltimore area for guests exploring the region between escape-room adventures.
